POSITION: Porter (Full-Time, Non-Exempt) COMPENSATION: Hourly Rate, plus Benefits eligibility SUMMARY As a Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining the common areas of the property and apartments prior to move-in. JOB Renovates, maintains, and repairs miscellaneous DOT Headquarters building components to include doors and hardware, walls and wall finishes, floors, ceilings, etc.Inspects, maintains and repairs plumbing equipment and systems.Inspects, maintains and repairs electrical equipment, install new electrical equipment, fixtures and systems.Assists facilities Maintenance Manager in the operation of energy plant, perform daily duties in his absence.Inspects, maintains and repairs HVAC equipment and systems.Updates work orders and time on a daily basis on the computer system.Complies with all safety regulations, practices and procedures and take immediate action to stop unsafe practices which includes responding to emergencies at the Headquarter's building and assist Emergency personnel as needed.Move and set up tables, chairs, furniture and other items as needed. Hang pictures, plaques, etc.Inspects, maintains and repairs miscellaneous equipment to include vacuums, buffers, sweepers, etc. May be required to drive DOT service truck to deliver and pickup supplies. Performs other related duties as assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES A high school diploma and six (6) months of trades experience related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor operator's license is required.The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
