What You'll Do Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and spool sheets. Lay out, measure, cut, bevel, fit, tack, and weld piping assemblies according to project specifications. Fabricate commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systems using carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, and other piping materials. Assemble valves, fittings, flanges, hangers, supports, and mechanical equipment into prefabricated assemblies. Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and other welding processes as required. Operate fabrication equipment including pipe threaders, grooving machines, beveling machines, band saws, ironworkers, grinders, drill presses, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Assemble pipe racks, equipment skids, risers, valve stations, and modular piping systems for field installation. Verify dimensions and quality of fabricated assemblies before shipment. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in pipe fabrication, welding, commercial plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical piping. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and fabrication prints. Experience with commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systems. Proficiency using shop fabrication tools and welding equipment. Working knowledge of MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques. Experience with grooved, threaded, welded, brazed, soldered, and mechanical piping systems preferred. Strong measuring, layout, and fitting skills. Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus. This position will focus primarily on *like-for-like residential HVAC change-outs and retrofit installations* at various job sites throughout South Carolina. The ideal candidate must be dependable, professional, detail-oriented, and capable of completing residential HVAC installations safely, efficiently, and to company standards. This role requires travel to multiple locations, so candidates must be comfortable working on the road and staying organized while moving between job sites. Per diem will be provided for approved travel-related work. Primary Responsibilities The Traveling Residential HVAC Installer will be responsible for performing residential HVAC system replacements and retrofit installations, including but not limited to: * Removing and replacing existing residential HVAC systems * Performing like-for-like change-outs of heat pumps, air handlers, furnaces, evaporator coils, condensers, and package units * Installing new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards * Connecting refrigerant lines, drain lines, low-voltage wiring, and equipment accessories * Brazing, pressure testing, evacuating, charging, and starting up HVAC systems * Making minor duct transitions, plenum connections, and retrofit adjustments as needed * Ensuring proper airflow, drainage, refrigerant charge, and system operation * Performing equipment start-up and basic commissioning * Keeping job sites clean, safe, and professional * Properly removing and hauling off old equipment when required * Communicating with supervisors, customers, builders, property managers, or other job-site contacts as needed * Documenting completed work with photos, notes, and required paperwork * Following all company safety procedures and local code requirements * Traveling to assigned job locations throughout South Carolina Required Skills and Qualifications Qualified candidates should have experience with residential HVAC installation and must be able to perform change-outs with limited supervision.
