The planner acts as a critical link between production, shipping, carriers, and yard operations to execute daily transportation plans aligned with business priorities. Key Responsibilities Transportation Planning & Scheduling • Develop and execute daily and weekly truckload transportation plans to support outbound and inbound material flows. • Schedule live load, drop and hook, and pool point shipments to maximize asset utilization and minimize detention, dwell, and re handling. • Sequence shipments based on production release timing, customer delivery requirements, and carrier availability. • Proactively adjust schedules in response to production changes, weather, carrier constraints, or yard congestion. Live Load & Pool Load Optimization • Manage live load scheduling windows to balance dock capacity, labor availability, and carrier turn times. • Optimize pool distribution strategies, including load consolidation, relay points, and carrier assignment. • Monitor pool inventory positions and replenishment timing to ensure service continuity and cost effectiveness. • Analyze live vs. pool load tradeoffs to improve transportation efficiency and total delivered cost.
