The Operations Leader provides direction to salaried and hourly production and support staff employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Plans and assigns work, enforces policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Accountable for driving higher standards of excellence in manufacturing high quality products in a safe manner while assuring cost-efficient products and on-time delivery to customers, and for maintaining an environment of positive employee relations in a team environment. What you will do: Responsible for overall performance of assigned work group, including safety, quality, cost and output schedule performance. Responsible for coaching and improving individual employee performance to acceptable standards, including but not limited to workmanship, attendance, safety and job performance. Serve as primary communication vehicle between leadership team and production employees. Provide leadership to continuously improve safety, quality and efficiency by the application of Six Sigma fundamentals. Assures employees are consistently being trained and developed so that talent is retained and succession plans remove gaps in bench strength. Administer talent management programs and processes to ensure that tools are being used to create value across the organization. Responsible for training and developing operators and assuring that all employees understand how to perform the job in a safe manner to quality and productivity standards. What you will bring: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or other applicable field required. Demonstrated leadership ability. Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a supervisory role. Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools a plus; Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification preferred. Strong planning, problem analysis and resolution, and organizational skills. Able to make timely decision in stressful situations. Ability to listen to customers and translate into accurate, actionable specifications. Must be team-oriented with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Mission Reeves Construction Company is looking for an experienced Asphalt Plant Operator for the Reeves - Columbia Asphalt Plant. Asphalt Plant Operator operates asphalt plants controls, to weigh and deliver specified quantities of aggregates and asphalt cement to dryer for heating, and to mixer for mixing and dumping into trucks. Asphalt Plant Operators maintain proper heat in dryer by adjusting thermostatic controls and maintain proper flow of materials. Main Responsibilities Responsible for safely operating and maintaining asphalt plant and construction equipment by: Determining proper quantities of materials needed to produce asphalt. Adjusting controls to regulate the flow of materials. Maintaining the speed of systems. Ensuring the plant is operating at the proper temperature. Perform walk-around and site inspections for all equipment to identify and correct unsafe conditions. Responsible for preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced as needed. Communicate with quality control personnel and make adjustments to material blends as needed. Monitor inventory levels of all mix materials. Monitor production levels and adjust production as needed. Supervise employees at the plant. May be designated to train employees as needed. Ability to weld using an arc welder and cutting torch. Monitor plant site to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. Troubleshoot, problem solve, and successfully discuss production problems with co-workers and supervisors. Accurately complete plant reports and other documentation as needed. Enters reports into computer system. Clean control house and yard facility daily. Maintain good customer relations with customers on an ongoing basis. Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of Plant Operator experience. Must have excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills. This job requires the ability to communicate successfully with difficult employees under high stress situations. Must have the ability to handle several projects at once, while maintaining tight deadlines. This job requires high attention to detail, including the ability to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Comprehension of basis percentages is necessary in order to successfully calculate quantities materials used to make asphalt. Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards. Must have reliable transportation. Periodic evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime hours are expected.
