Schedule: 9:00pm to 5:30am Sunday to Thursday (Extended shift and weekend overtime work required) Compensation: $18.25 per hour (plus $1.25 per hour shift differential) THE ROLE The AFL Operator is responsible for operating the machine that cuts laminate sheets. Job Purpose: The Metrology & Calibration Technician executes in-house calibrations, routine verifications, and diagnostics on critical manufacturing/instrument monitoring systems within a regulated cGMP drug facility. This role maintains the qualified state of production assets to ensure equipment accuracy and minimize downtime. Key responsibilities include managing scheduled calibrations for Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) aseptic packaging systems and critical instruments ranging from environmental sensors to weight and pressure systems. All activities must strictly comply with cGMP standards, NIST traceability guidelines, and internal SOPs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instrument Calibration: Performs in-house scheduled and unscheduled calibrations on critical instrumentation, and equipment monitoring devices that affect product quality including temperature and humidity controllers, autoclaves, pressure transducers, pH meters, check-weighers, ovens, and cells, following established standard test methods BFS Equipment Calibration: Perform precision calibrations on critical instrumentation embedded within Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) machinery, focusing heavily on product temperature probes, sterile air pressure sensors, parison thickness controls, and vacuum transducers Automation Loop Verification: Interfaces with programmable logic controller (PLC) systems and human-machine interfaces (HMI)- Panasonic, B&R, and Mountain RAM by writing measurement data templates (MDTs) and scheduling calibration events within the software as new instrumentation is inducted · Assists with Blue Mountain RAM implementation by training BFS maintenance technicians with hands on use · Attends Blue Mountain hands on training as necessary to assist other departments during implementations Performs other similar duties as Where is the work: On-Site (5 days) What's in it for you: As a Manufacturing Engineer your role is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and to develop manufacturing plans which improve operations competitiveness. What you will do: Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending and Budgeting/ Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings Ensures all equipment meets OSHA compliant safety regulations Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering Manages, develops and improves manufacturing standards including machine capability and capacity, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times. What you will bring: Bachelor's Engineering Degree required 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Qualified candidate must possess excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Experience with lean principles and techniques to include Visual Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Cycle Time Reduction and Process Balancing, Yokoten, 5S, Set Up Reduction (SMED), and Kanban. Strong analytic skills, with ability to clearly link operational performance drivers to financial results. PLC Programming and Automation knowledge is a plus. Key Competencies: New product development understanding. Ability to utilize engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes the first time. Ability to use such management-leadership techniques such as; project mgt., objective development and project review disciplines. Fluent knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, assembly and quality control processes. Strong leadership skills to drive engineering principles and processes. Understanding of Lean, 3P, Kaizen and Six Sigma programs. Knowledge of new model launch requirements and processes to ensure flawless launch goals. PC Skills: Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint and MS Project. Experience in 2D/3D Modeling software (AutoCAD, Pro-E) is desirable. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Requires cross functional communication, simultaneous engineering and reporting. Ability to resolve multiple conflicts between widely varying personalities. Ability to guide and lead non-technical & technical personnel to technical solutions. Demonstrated implementation of root cause analysis and solutions.
