Job Summary A healthcare provider to assist patients and providers with direct and indirect patient care. Provide care to patients with orthopaedic problems through the application and adjustment of a variety of casts and splints. Assists clinical assistants with clinical tasks. Works under the direction of the clinical provider, clinical team lead and office manager. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum Years of Experience: 6 Months of experience under the supervision of a physician or Senior Orthopaedic Technician in a clinical/healthcare setting with casting and/or splinting experience Substitutable Education & Experience: None. Required Certifications/Licensure: National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists certification or must be willing to obtain certification within 6 months of obtaining position Required Training: General knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality Essential Functions Maintains a positive attitude. Performs dressing removals, staple/stitch removal, cast application to include the following types of casts: short arm, long arm, short leg, long let, ulna gutter (Boxers), clam digger; or other types per the physician’s orders Fabricate and apply splints, this may include volar, boxer, reverse sugar tong, posterior elbow, thumb spica, stirrup ankle and posterior ankle; or other types per the physician’s orders Application of various prosthetics & orthotics per the physician’s orders Ability to instruct patient/family in the care of the cast, splint or brace. Reinforce the teaching of the medical information given by the physician regarding the specific injury, treatment plan and anticipated results Maintain accurate notes and records of medical services rendered Duties & Responsibilities Responsible of casting supplies and equipment including ordering and maintaining orthopaedic casting and splinting supplies. Responsible for maintaining cast saws and replacing blades as necessary Performs other clinical assistance such as preparation and maintenance of exam room, conducting patient interviews, chaperoning and assisting patients as needed, implementing physician orders, interacting with other departments, phlebotomy related tasks, scheduling referrals or medical appointments, Understands and agrees to seek compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies Provides Support and Guidance for Clinical Policies and Procedures Maintains certifications and licensure and stays abreast of best practice. Remote Technician (Part Time)
Connoisseur Media – Columbia, SC, is hiring a part-time Remote Technician to bring our live broadcasts and events to life (about 10 hours per week). Assists the patient with needs associated with personal hygiene. Duties include, but are not limited to, bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, and washing hands. Assists patients with needs related to nutrition and feeding. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with feeding, drinking, and setting up meal trays. Assists patients with needs related to ambulation. Duties include, but are not limited to, dangling, walking, walking with an assistive device, and implementing fall prevention measures under the direction of the registered nurse. Meets patients' needs related to elimination. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the patient with getting to the bathroom, using a bedside commode, using a bedpan, and/or using a urinal. Accurately monitors inputs and outputs. Completes and documents patient vital signs. Duties include assessing blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse ox or ETC02. Reports abnormal values to the registered nurse. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements Education - Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Experience - Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant, or related experience preferred. One year of hospital clerical experience preferred. In Lieu Of In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, we may accept current or former South Carolina CNA certification as proof of completed state-required training at the time of hire. In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, we may accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at the time of hire. Completes assigned tasks within specified time frame. Duties & Responsibilities RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (continued) Prioritizes workload to best meet both patient and unit needs. Restocks rooms with supplies needed for patient care. Assists in performing and documenting environmental checks as required by LMC policy and regulatory agencies. Promptly responds to all communication devices in order to meet patient needs. CLERICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Enters pertinent information into the electronic medical record. Performs chart maintenance by: Verifies that all information in the patient chart is correctly labeled and filed and initiates appropriate action when necessary (patient label, face sheets, etc.). Assembles, checks and routes patient files in cases of surgery, transfer (to include new ID bracelet), discharge or death according to procedure. Schedules physician appointments, call physician consults, requests copies of the medical record (when indicated) and arranges transportation for patients as requested. Demonstrates knowledge and effective use of medical terminology. Maintains established stock levels of clerical supplies. Restocks and /or orders supplies. Removes outdated forms or supplies from unit, organizes clerical supplies and makes up new charts. Credits supplies and equipment to appropriate department. Orders specialty items (from in-house as well as outside vendors) for patients. Promptly follows appropriate procedure for returning specialty equipment from outside vendors. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains required certifications. Completes yearly safety training and other mandatory classes. Meets or exceeds all LMC requirements for attendance and service expectations. Complies with all annual employee health requirements. Ensure Hazardous Waste or Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals are discarded, stored, and managed with other compatible waste streams in containers that are properly labeled and closed prior to being shipped offsite for proper disposal. Initial RCRA training is received within 6 months of the hire date and continuing with annual RCRA training. Perofrms all other duties as assigned.
