Job Responsibilities At Lexington Maintenance, serves as foreman of a Specialty Crew. Supervises the Concrete Crew in the maintenance of county wide concrete repairs to include, but not limited to sidewalks, curb and gutters, and catch basins. Supervises county wide draininge projects. Assists other crews with projects as deemed necessary by the RME (Resident Maintenance Engineer). Supervises the operation of the motor grader during county wide drainage projects. Supervises the operation of backhoe and/or excavator for routine concrete repairs. Supervises the operation of other medium to heavy equipment as required for other projects. Completes job hazard analysis forms, mitigates risks, and conducts safety meeting prior to the commencement of work activities to inform the crew of the hazards associated with the work to be performed. Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports, time sheets, and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures; rates employees yearly according to the Employee Performance Management System. Supervises traffic control and ensures that it is in accordance to the South Carolina Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices to warn motorists of work ahead. Supervises the flagger controlling traffic for the protection of workers and the motoring public according to the standards set and the training received. Ensures employees within the crew(s) complete all CDL pre-trip inspections prior to operating CDL vehicles. Conducts meetings and training sessions for employees. Manages assigned crew(s) in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours and/or 12-hour shifts. Minimum and Additional Requirements Four (4) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position. The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Function in the Job: Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job Function: Prepares production equipment for operation by making equipment setup adjustments and/or working with a setup operator that assists in equipment changeovers. Frequent lifting of 50 lbs and using team lift assist. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pulling, walking, and standing for the entirety of work shift.
