Key Responsibilities - Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on boat trailers, identifying issues with wiring, brakes, axles, lights, tires, and other components. - Repair and replace faulty parts, including rewiring electrical systems, adjusting or replacing brakes, and servicing axles and suspensions. - Conduct preventive maintenance, such as lubricating moving parts, checking fluid levels, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. - Test trailers for roadworthiness, including towing simulations and on-road tests when necessary. - Interact with customers to understand their concerns, provide repair estimates, and explain completed work in a friendly and approachable way. - Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions. - Assist with inventory management of parts and tools, and keep the workspace clean and organized. - Collaborate with team members on larger projects or custom trailer modifications. Qualifications and Requirements - Proven mechanical experience, with specific knowledge of wiring, brakes, and axles (experience with boat trailers, automotive, or heavy equipment preferred). - Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools, techniques, and trailer models. - Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with the public. - Clean driving record and valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required). - Must pass a drug test and a criminal history check is required. - Basic tools and equipment knowledge; ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. - High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive or mechanical repair is a bonus. - Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. - Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. - Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends during peak boating seasons.
