JOB SUMMARY Responsible for performing venipuncture on donors for plasmapheresis and is primarily responsible for the safety and care of the donor during the plasmapheresis process under the direction of Center Manager. Operates within the scope of EU Guidance on Good Manufacturing Practice and FDA cGMP 21CFR. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CORE Self-introduction to donors prior to phlebotomy and understand their health requirements. Performs Haemonetics Autopheresis setup and programming with understanding of alarm signals during operation, shut down, and in the event of power failure. Performs phlebotomy procedures in accordance with SOPs, to include arm preparations, collection volumes, restarts, and cell loss procedures. Monitors the safety and care of the donor during the plasmapheresis process. Maintains alertness for donor reactions and assists with reactions and notifies appropriate Medical Staff, as needed. Performs test sample collection and identification, including NAT testing protocols. Maintains equipment calibration, standardization, and cleaning schedules according to SOPs. Reports damaged/faulty equipment to management/supervisor. Ensures the donor floor is properly stocked with supplies and soft goods. Provides a high level of customer service and strives to meet all production goals. Performs prompt and competent response to donor complaints, reactions, or deferrals. Ensures accurate recording of (i) donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs; and (ii) incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events. Facilitates donor flow throughout the plasma collection center with a sense of urgency, minimizing wait time by working carefully and efficiently and alerts management of donor flow issues. Follows all SOPs and regulatory policies and procedures, including the employee handbook. Responsible for remaining current on SOPs changes. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Explains plasma collection center policies & rules, educates new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from plasma, donation process, tests performed, proper nutrition, donor fee structure, bonuses, center promotions, and any other information pertinent to the donor. Prepares plasma collection center for audits by maintaining a clean, efficient work environment times and ensure sufficient operating supplies. Maintains data integrity and confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and plasma collection center information. General Must be able to execute all terms and conditions set forth in the KEDPLASMA Employee Handbook, including, but not limited to: Work in a safety-conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Meet with supervisor/manager on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or improving services. Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner as instructed by supervisor/manager. Adhere to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks. This park protects the largest contiguous tract of old growth floodplain hardwood forest in the southeast. Our boundaries encompass approximately 27,000 acres, the majority of which is designated wilderness. In general, the climate is mild with very, very hot and humid summers. Columbia is the closest major city to the Park. It is a very nice city with much to keep you busy and entertained. There are many hiking opportunities within a short drive of the city and this is a wonderful place to be if you are a paddler. Position Overview: This is a 30-week opportunity to be a part of a traveling team that will focus on invasive plant management at 13 parks in the Southeast Region. These include national parks in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. The team will visit several, not all, of these parks during the position. The team will be based at Congaree National Park near Columbia, SC; however, will periodically travel on a work schedule of eight consecutive ten-hour working days, then return to Congaree for six scheduled days off before traveling to the next park or site for eight, ten-hour days. The member will control non-native plants using both manual and chemical methods (75%), perform distribution mapping of non- native plants using GPS (10%), and assist with additional resource management field, GIS, and data management projects (15%). Because of the travel intensive nature of this internship, we are looking for adaptable applicants willing to work in an environment requiring a lot of flexibility. At times our travel plans change suddenly due to unforeseen weather or training opportunities. This position is meant to facilitate professional development and promote exposure to land management and networking with professionals at various parks. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups. Interns will potentially receive training on many resource management aspects: herbicide safety and handling, truck and trailer driving, hand tool use, GIS skills, and see a variety of beautiful parks located in the Southeast. The crew will be manually removing exotic invasive vegetation in both urban and rural NPS sites. The team will live together while in travel status, so the ability to get along with others is vital. The accommodation will vary from rustic park housing to hotels, but while traveling camping will not be required. The program is interested in crew members with initiative, leadership ability, patience, and an intense work ethic who have a desire to expand their resumes.
