CEI Inspector - West Columbia, SC Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking qualified Inspectors to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team in Columbia, SC to support various transportation projects with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in District 1. The inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards for transportation projects of moderate to considerable complexity. In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to also provide inspection/project management, under the direction of a Project Manager. This Inspector will provide direction to junior inspectors on the project as needed. Responsibilities Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms. Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance. Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications. Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation. Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill. Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment. Perform accurate calculations and computations. Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications. Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications. Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor. Recording Daily Work Reports to include quantities in Site Manager and for American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASTHO) projects. Qualifications Above average math and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English. Must be legally authorized to work in the US. Must have a current driver’s license with a safe driving record; ICE is a drug-free workplace. Education and Experience Requirements CEI Inspector: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or BS degree in Civil Engineering is a plus. Two years of CEI experience working on roadway and bridge inspection is desired. Experience working on SCDOT projects is desired. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Mid-Senior CEI Inspector: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or BS degree in Civil Engineering is a plus. General Summary of the Position QC Technician I is responsible for activities that impact the direct quality of the product. The role serves as a critical resource to ensure materials and finished products meet specifications, equipment utilized in testing and environmental conditions are maintained and supporting the validation and expansion of new and existing product lines. CEI Inspector - West Columbia, SC Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking qualified Inspectors to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team in Columbia, SC to support various transportation projects with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in District 1. The inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards for transportation projects of moderate to considerable complexity. In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to also provide inspection/project management, under the direction of a Project Manager. This Inspector will provide direction to junior inspectors on the project as needed. Responsibilities Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms. Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance. Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications. Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation. Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill. Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment. Perform accurate calculations and computations. Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications. Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications. Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor. Recording Daily Work Reports to include quantities in Site Manager and for American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASTHO) projects. Qualifications Above average math and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills.
