Successfully masters safety training and completes hazard recognition; the daily Stop, Look, Assess, and Manage (SLAM) Booklet; and Task Hazard Analysis (THA) forms. Knows the safety procedures and performs thorough reviews of the operator/user manuals prior to operating any power tools or equipment. Cleans and prepare construction site to eliminate possible hazards. Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Trenches and backfills excavations and compacts and levels earth to grade specifications using shovels, picks, rakes, and tampers. Positions, aligns, joins, and seals structural components, such as concrete structures, pipe, and culverts. Accurately measures, marks, and records openings and distances as may be required for record drawings. Loads, unloads, and identifies materials and tools and distributes them to the appropriate location. Sets up traffic control zones, barricades, signage, ramps, and other temporary safety devices as deemed necessary by the site safety plan. Assists in seed bed preparation and mulching of seeded areas by means of engine powered straw blowers or by hand if necessary. Labors to assist in the installation of erosion control measures on environmental projects. Performs/assists with SWPPP inspections as required.
