Job Responsibilities About Our Agency The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) was established April 28, 2025. The Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) is a part of the state's behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a wholistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of: intellectual disability and related disabilities autism spectrum disorder traumatic brain injury spinal cord injury and similar disability Job Responsibilities As a core member of the state-wide Eligibility Division, reviews and assesses intake/eligibility information for new and current consumers; conducts Level of Care assessments for Intellectual Disability/Related Disability (ID/RD), Community Supports Waivers (CSW), and Head and Spinal Cord Injury (HASCI) Waivers and TEFRA applicants, provides training and technical assistance to provider staff and others; and participates in quality assurance activities for approved providers. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures concerning eligibility and related issues. Completes a comprehensive review of records of potential consumers for eligibility under the category of Head and Spinal Cord Injury (HASCI). Writes written justification of recommendation for eligibility based on a summary of consumer data and background information. Consults intake service provider (ISP), case manager/early interventionist, and supervisors as necessary. Assesses potential consumers for eligibility under the category of Intellectual Disability/Related Disability (ID/RD). Writes written justification of recommendation for eligibility based on a summary of consumer data and background information. Consults intake provider, case manager, or early intervention staff and supervisors as necessary. Participates in Level of Care (LOC) assessments by reviewing social, psychological, medical, or other corroborative information. Renders written decisions and completes required documentation. Collects and submits proper documentation of File Review and Level of Care data. Proactively researches and engages in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster professional growth. Engages in collaboration through required meeting attendance and consistent communication with leadership and peers. Performs other related duties as assigned to support departmental or agency goals.
