At a minimum this can include collecting and reviewing VBD case information for transmission of case data to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, performing data quality review activities to ensure complete and timely collection of essential VBD surveillance data, performing analysis of VBD data to monitor disease trends and sharing these analyses with epidemiology staff and agency leadership as needed, maintaining knowledge of VBDs and issues related to VBD surveillance, evaluating surveillance methods to identify ways to improve and enhance VBD surveillance, providing trainings and reference materials to epidemiology staff regarding VBDs, communicating with external partners regarding VBDs and VBD surveillance information, collaborating with Department of Public Health (DPH) State Entomologist to plan, implement, and track Epidemiology & Laboratory Capacity (ELC) VBD activities and ensure requirements of federal grants are fulfilled, and maintain strict confidentiality of surveillance information. Collaborate with Communicable Disease Epi Section (CDES) and Department of Public Health (DPH) Entomology staff regarding high-priority VBD case investigations and outbreaks. Serve as the lead for such investigations when needed. Reporting to the Director of Collections Management, the Collections Cataloger will work to improve the collections database by editing existing data, conducting research to expand descriptions, and ensuring the standardization of descriptive metadata. This position will also play a role in the daily collections management tasks of the museum such as exhibit installs, object movement, and cleaning.
